Description
Elaborate and captivating work on a narrative level representing the repressed anxiety of a troubled person seated on the ground, in a natural setting carved in stone. The same person, standing, springs out from the candid marble and projects himself toward a future dimension. A dynamic point of view on humankind overcoming its fears, on a new identity and a new hope for the contemporary man. The work, commissioned by the Hakone Museum, was created by sculptor Giuliano Vangi. It was made using a single block of marble later divided into two parts and moulded in Massimo Galleni’s sculpture laboratory in Pietrasanta. Before being transferred to Japan, in 2004 the piece was displayed at the Rotonda di Via Besana building in Milan together with ten more sculptures and about forty drawings during an exhibition illustrating the creative journey of the artist, a sculptor who combines traditional Italian images with a stylistic research in which the human figure is always at the core of the work.
